The Youth and Family Navigator will provide education, support, and guidance to youth and their families, as well as community resources in an effort to reduce the rate of death by suicide in Penobscot County in partnership with AMHC.

The Navigator will assist in a system-wide community effort to identify high-risk youth, respond to the youth within 48 hours, or less and attend to their immediate needs.

The goal is to respond to the youth at-risk by improving coping and community response that will attend to the emotional, behavioral, and physical health needs of the adolescent.

This position is part-time (20 hours a week) OR can be combined with 20 hours per week with the mobile crisis team for a full-time position.

Requirements

Must have a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services related field, plus one year of direct relevant work experience; or an Associate’s Degree in the Human Services related field, plus three years of direct relevant work experience.

Relevant work experience is defined as work experience relevant to the provision of services to youth and families.

Employees who have not completed the MHRT/CSP certificate must successfully obtain certification within 30 days of employment.

The employee must possess reliable transportation and a valid Maine driver’s license.
