The Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) Job Coach will provide time limited on-site support for State/VR consumers in education and or training settings. This is a great opportunity for individuals who are looking to start their career in human services! You'll gain exposure to the full scope of work that VocRehab does and will become familiar with local employers, as you will accompany VR consumers to their workplaces. The VR Job Coach will assist VR counselors in preparing consumers to apply for competitive employment as directed by the VR counselor. More specifically, this may include:
- Direct, one to one, support at job specific trainings
- Tutoring or coaching at workshops or classes
- Providing hands on job training and job coaching in a work place in order to help the consumer become fully independent
- After the VR consumer has become stable on the job, providing periodic check-ins to ensure the consumer is sustaining the required level of performance for an agreed amount of time
The work schedule of the VR Job Coach will vary based on the number of consumers served and their specific training needs. This is a long-term temporary/part-time position, which will be scheduled for up to 24 hours of work per week. Availability to work occasional night/weekend hours may be required. Local travel is required.

This position, VR Job Coach - Temporary (Job Requisition #810), is open to all State employees and external applicants. This is a temporary position. Temporary work is typically for variable hours, and is not expected to be full-time. The State does not guarantee 40 hours of work per week.

AHS BACKGROUND CHECKS: Candidates must pass any level of background investigation applicable to the position. In accordance with AHS Policy 4.02, Hiring Standards, Vermont and/or national criminal record checks, as well as DMV and adult and child abuse registry checks, as appropriate to the position under recruitment, will be conducted on candidates, with the exception of those who are current classified state employees seeking transfer, promotion or demotion into an AHS classified position or are persons exercising re-employment (RIF) rights.
Duties are performed in a variety of office settings statewide. Substantial travel to consumer job sites requires that private means of transportation be available. The work schedule of the VR Job Coach will vary based on the number of consumers served and their specific training needs. No minimum number of hours will be guaranteed. The State Regional Manager or his/her State designee will determine how many hours employee will work and assign State/VR consumers to the employee for services.
High school diploma or equivalent and six (6) months or more of work or volunteer experience in human services, customer service, or a related field requiring considerable personal interactions.
Experience working with individuals with disabilities.
