    • The Unit Secretary/Licensed Nursing Assistant (US/LNA) utilizes interpersonal and organizational skills to provide an efficient working environment. This includes accurate processing of patient registrations, prompt transcription of patient treatment orders, processing charges, utilizing good telephone etiquette, handling inquiries diplomatically and maintaining confidentiality. Prioritizing reception/telephone duties; communicating with other departments by phone, in person, by mail, and in writing. Demonstrates excellent written and oral communications skills, has excellent computer skills and possesses a working knowledge of hospital procedures and organizational characteristics. Effectively represents the Special Care Unit to patients, staff, physicians, and the community. Responds to and refers problems and concerns when necessary.  The US/LNA is responsible for patient care that has been assigned by the Registered Nurse, which includes:  assisting patients with hygiene needs, takes and records vital signs and weights, assists with transfers, ambulation and transportation, assists with food trays/nourishments, records intake & output, answers call lights, and maintains a safe environment while performing care. Performs other non-nursing tasks as assigned.
      • High school graduate or equivalent preferred.  
      • Experience in a health care environment preferred. 
      • 1-2 years recent secretarial experience preferred.
      • Previous LNA experience preferred.
      • Intermediate level proficiency with personal computer and/or mainframe systems preferred.
      • Proficient with Microsoft Word required.
      • Experience with T4scheduling system, AS400, Microsoft Excel and database programs preferred.
      • Knowledge of medical terminology at hire preferred or satisfactory completion of in-house medical terminology course required within 12 months of hire.
      • BLS for Healthcare Provider certified.
      • Vermont Nursing Assistant Licensure required within 6 months of hire.
