Job Summary:

This Process Engineer leads the establishment of appropriate optical filter measurement tools and techniques to ensure the specifications of our products and incoming substrates. This includes the development of operational methods for production teams, development of appropriate techniques for new and emerging requirements, equipment selection and development strategies. He/she leads the optimization of test and verification processes for yield, quality, throughput and cycle time. He/she fosters a collaborative environment and uses their creativity and a methodical scientific approach to solve technical challenges. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and implementation of advanced analytical techniques and processes to measure and ensure the spectral, dimensional and other attributes of optical filters to new and emerging customer requirements
  • Lead the development and implementation of analytical techniques for incoming substrate and in process substrates for defects and process optimization
  • Assist in the development of new analysis capabilities, including new equipment or outsourcing, and its qualification for use by engineering, and transfer into production as volumes require 
  • Lead the transfer of new techniques into production
  • Support the test and verification operations with appropriate procedures, and ensure consistency of implementation and continuous improvement of processes, equipment and tooling. This includes a focus on operational yield, cycle time and throughput    
  • Ensure calibration practices are in place and conducted in a timely manner
  • Conduct necessary measurement reliability studies to ensure measurement and verification processes are in control
  • Perform risk assessment of process changes
  • Assure appropriate documentation pertaining to process changes and qualification of new systems, tools, and processes occur
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures and training guidelines
  • Train, coach, and mentor staff in standard operating procedures
  • Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing staff to ensure suitable metrology techniques during product development and first-article runs
