Statement of Purpose
The Registered Nurse I coordinates, participates in, modifies and evaluates the patient's plan of care. Is able to oversee management of a group of patients and identify problems and issued related to patient care outcomes/unit operations. Serves as a positive role model for members of the healthcare team.
In addition to the staff nurse II job description, the nurse will oversee and coordinate the care given to the patient in the Perioperative phase of the patient's care. The nurse is to serve as a patient advocate.
Education: Graduate of nursing program: diploma, associate degree, or baccalaureate program. BSN preferred.
Minimum License: Valid and Current Vermont License - Registered Nurse
Certifications Required: BLS required for hire for all RN positions. House Supervisor - ACLS, NRP, PEARS (highly recommended) Flex RN - ACLS, NRP, PEARS,ED - ACLS, TNCC, PALS, PEARS is optional, MCH - PEARS and NRP as soon as possible following hire within 1 year, PALS is optional, MedSurg - ICU - ACLS, OR/PACU - ACLS within 1 st year of hire, PALS within 2 nd year. Once eligible, certification in specialty area.
Reporting Relationships: Supervised By- Manager of the assigned area, Supervision Of- Registered Nurses, Licensed practical Nurses, Licensed Nurses Assistants, Orderlies, Unit Clerks, and all others assigned to a specific patient care team including students from various Health care programs.
Equipment Utilized:Electronic Medical Record, PC, Common Office Equipment, Patient Equipment appropriate to area/unit.
