Buildings & General Services at the State of Vermont is seeking an organized leader for a Custodial Supervisor position. The hours are 12pm to 8:30pm, Monday through Friday. This position is responsible for supervisory work involving the custodial care of buildings and grounds in State office buildings. Incumbent will be responsible for assisting in hiring and training custodial staff, in addition to planning and organizing work for the staff. The Custodial Supervisor will manage requisitions of materials and maintains inventory while maintaining records and related paperwork. Candidates should have considerable knowledge of methods, materials, and equipment used in providing custodial services, in addition to supervisory experience.

Ability to work under stressful conditions. Incumbents must be able to work outdoors in all types of weather. Good physical condition and ability to climb ladders and lift and carry equipment is required. Some overtime or weekend work may be required. Occasional travel may be required for which private means of transportation must be available.
High School diploma or equivalent AND five (5) years or more of building custodial work INCLUDING three (3) years or more as a supervisor of a large complex or work crew (this supervisory experience must include: establishing performance expectations, writing and discussing performance evaluations, and delivering supervisory feedback).
