SUMMARY OF POSITION:  Under the Direction of the Director of Therapeutic Education/After School Services is responsible for oversight of the education of the independent school and tutorial programs in the Children’s Division of Washington County Mental Health.

 

SPECIFIC DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervise all regular full time teaching staff
  • As part of program administration, provide oversight of staff of CYFS tutorial and independent school programs.
  • Represent educational program to sending school, community providers, and consumers
  • Attend treatment team and IEP meetings, as necessary
  • Plan and conduct program trainings
  • Coordinate and monitor independent school and tutorial educational programming for CYFS division
  • Hire and train new education staff
  • Assist Director and Coordinators in selecting and training program staff
  • Conduct education oriented staff meetings
  • Assist in ongoing program development and expansion
  • Assist in education budget development and monitoring
  • Provide for an annual program evaluation
  • Develop program policies and procedures
  • Act as program’s liaison to Local Education Agencies, Agency of Education, and DA and SSA school leaders in collaboration with Director
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Director
  • Willingness to use personal vehicle for work related business to include attending meetings and client transport on an as needed basis

 

 

Qualifications:

Required:  Master’s degree and license eligible OR Master’s in a related field with 3-5 years direct teaching experience and administrative experience including previous supervision experience.

 

 

Additional Requirements:

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. 
  • Ability to interact well with parents, school staff, WCMHS staff, and other professionals.
  • Valid driver’s license, excellent driving record, and access to a safe, reliable, insured vehicle is required.
  • Insure paperwork with completed on time

 

Preferred: Broad knowledge in multiple education content areas. Master’s degree in education.

 

Experience: Experience working with EBD youth.  Knowledge and experience in working with trauma informed services and supports and special education.  Valid driver’s license, excellent driving record and access to a safe, reliable, insured vehicle are required.  Full time with benefits.

Health Insurance (Blue Cross Blue Shield of Vermont)

  • Three plans offered:  Platinum, Gold, and Silver (HDHP). Premiums are pro-rated based on standard hours and vary based on plan chosen, but range from $24.26 to $69.99 per biweekly pay period for a single plan.
  • Begins the first day of the month following one month of continuous full-time employment.
  • Coverage available for dependents, including employees’ domestic partners.

Dental Insurance (Northeast Delta Dental) & Vision Insurance (VSP)

  • Begins the first day of the month following one month of continuous full-time employment.
  • Coverage available for dependents, including employees’ domestic partners.

Flexible Spending Accounts

Employees are able to set money aside from their paycheck on a pretax basis to go toward unreimbursed medical or dependent care expenses.

Short and Long-Term Disability

Coverage is provided at no cost to eligible employees and is effective the first day of the month following 6 months of full-time employment. Short-term disability provides for 50% of basic weekly earnings following a one week waiting period (waived in the event of an accident), for up to 26 weeks. Long-term disability has a 180 day waiting period and provides for 60% of your basic monthly earnings.

Life Insurance/Accidental Death & Dismemberment

Coverage is provided at no charge to employees and is effective the first day of the month following 6 months of full-time employment. The amount of insurance is two (2) times employees’ base annual salary, to a maximum of $300,000.

Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

Free, short-term, confidential counseling and access to resources and specialist referrals. EAP is available to all members of an employee’s household.

Paid Sick & Vacation time

Vacation and sick time are pro-rated according to the employees’ base weekly hours. You earn 12 days of sick and 12 days of vacation in your first year, which increases with length of service to a maximum of 18 days of sick and 24 days of vacation per year after four years of employment.

12 ½ Paid Holidays

New Years Day, Martin Luther King’s Birthday, President’s Day, Town Meeting Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veteran’s Day, Thanksgiving & the day after, Christmas Eve (1/2 day), and Christmas Day.

Educational Benefits:

Up to $1,600 per year for matriculating classes.

403(b)

All employees (full- or part-time regular as well as hourly/per diem employees) are able to begin contributing pre-tax earnings at date of hire. WCMHS matches 4.25 – 8% (based on length of service) of eligible gross earnings each year. To be eligible for the match, employees must have one year of service and must have worked at least 1,000 hours. Employee contributions are always 100% vested. Employer contribution is fully vested after 4 years of employment.
