Behavioral Interventionist - Life Skills and Adventure Education Focus

The Laraway School in Johnson, VT is seeking individuals to provide daily educational and behavioral support to students in an educational and therapeutic setting. This position requires the use of experiential education to provide opportunities for youth to make positive choices, gain self-confidence and learn skills that are critical to their lifelong development. Supporting individualized academic plans, classroom based activities; community based service learning and school to work initiatives will be essential to this role. This position with involve a strong focus on adventure education. Ample time will be spent in the outdoor learning environment. Activities include sports, hiking, canoeing, skiing, snowboarding, camping, skateboarding, and taking advantage of our 39 acre property to name a few. A strong sense of professionalism is required. The person shall present themselves as a strong role model for adolescents and demonstrate management and supervision of students. Successful candidates will be required to work across a variety of school settings and must possess strong verbal and written communication skills with the capacity to effectively engage at risk youth. This role requires active/hands-on participation in a wide range of activities and settings, whilst building trust and confidence.
Additional Information or requirements:vacation/sick time, paid holidays. Criminal record check, valid driver’s license, excellent driving record, and access to a safe, reliable, insured vehicle are required. Other desired certifications include CPR and First Aid.
Experience with Adventure Education preferred.
• Bachelor's degree require to be completed or in progress, preferably in Human Services or related field.
Prior experience in human service delivery in settings serving children and youth. Additional requirements – Valid driver’s license, excellent driving record, and access to a safe, reliable, insured vehicle is required.
