AOT Senior Manager II - Maintenance Bureau

The AOT Senior Manager II will act as the Southeast Maintenance Transportation Administrator for the Maintenance Bureau in the Highway Division of the Vermont Agency of Transportation. The position is responsible for budgetary, personnel, facility and maintenance programs within the Southeast Maintenance Region. This position will coordinate and evaluate all transportation functions to meet established goals and objectives. Incumbent will be responsible for participating in the formulation and preparation of the budget and will oversee the implementation of approved programs. This is an office-based position, but frequent field work is required. Candidates should have thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of business administration, as well as construction and maintenance engineering and practices. Experience as a supervisor or manager and the ability to successfully direct teams is preferred.

Work is performed in both an office and field setting. Frequent visits to construction sites and district offices and garages are required. Incumbents should possess private means of transportation. Attendance at public meetings and hearings is required. Evening or weekend work will be required. A variety of strong adversarial opinions may be encountered.
Associate Degree AND nine (9) years or more of management experience in one or more the following areas (a) development of program rules and policies; (b) development of long- and short-range goals and plans: (c) program evaluation; or (d) budget preparation OR highway maintenance, engineering, construction, planning or a combination thereof.
High school diploma or equivalent AND eleven (11) years or more of management experience in one or more the following areas (a) development of program rules and policies; (b) development of long- and short-range goals and plans: (c) program evaluation; and (d) budget preparation OR highway maintenance, engineering, construction, planning.
Note: Some positions may require registration as a Professional Engineer (PE)
Bachelor's degree in business or public administration, or engineering AND eight (8) years or more of professional-level experience in transportation management including a minimum of five (5) years supervising.
